Consul Garrett has appointed Vanda with a wide remit to manage the Consulate’s marketing and communications needs, and overall management of the Consulate.  

Vanda will also assume the role of Chargé d’affaires ad interim as the need arises should Consul Garrett be absent from the country or otherwise be unavailable.

Vanda has been the lead organiser of the Philippine Embassy Outreach Missions in Ireland since 2016 after moving to Cavan from London. 

A cum laude graduate in Broadcast Communication at the University of the Philippines and Full Scholar MA graduate in Communication from Ateneo de Manila University, and a former lecturer at both top-tier universities, Vanda has over twenty years of experience and proven skills in digital and traditional marketing, customer relations, programme and events management, market research, institutional marketing and external relations, partnership development, media, audio-visual production, teaching, and training material development and delivery. 

She has gained significant international exposure having worked with reputable international business and educational organisations and is consistently recognised for her excellent work in academia, private corporations and non-profit organisations. 

Apart from the recent success of the first cross-border Brexit forum she facilitated in Cavan, she received the Cathaoirleach’s (Cavan County Council Chair) 2019 Annual Award for the Social Inclusion Category for her exceptional achievement, effort and service in a voluntary capacity in County Cavan. 

Vanda has extensive experience in the voluntary sector having formed multiple community organisations in Ireland – the Filipino Association of Cavan, the Cavan Cross Cultural Community, Outreach Ireland, and the European Network of Filipino Diaspora-Ireland, as well as actively contributing to The Next Chapter Europe, and Cavan Multicultural Society. Vanda contributes to the Cavan Community through her work volunteering with the cross-community groups assisting Filipino nationals with cultural integration, basic migrant rights and multicultural participation in mainstream Cavan and the rest of Ireland. She has integrated her life and strives to promote inclusion for others in everything she does, working tirelessly to break barriers and stop exclusion and promote inclusion and integration.

Vanda has also offered great assistance to Filipino nationals in distress over the past four years in Ireland resulting in life changing outcomes for those affected.
